Exercise 4.4

I have been collecting photographs from several online magazines during these last two weeks, looking for controversial issues, mostly concerning the Syrian War, the Venezuelan uprising, French elections, North Korean-USA confrontation and Spanish political corruption. Lensculture Review

This week I’ve received the Lensculture review for the series of pictures that I sent for the Portrait Awards 2017. The mood of the feedback is positive although it insists on the two or three weakness of the series, which it’s great to help me to know how a trained viewer perceive my work. Storyboard

Based on a short story by Mónica Muñoz, I drew a storyboard which tries to illustrate it. Because my drawing skills are quite limited, because the story includes elements that are quite difficult to represent, I tried to depict some abstract elements to its symbolic representation, building a visual narrative slightly different from the original text. Captions and Titles

We are surrounded by information: images and text surround us since the day starts and when we went out to the street. I have planned this exercise very easily: I just get up in the morning and I want to check how the images and texts unfolded in front of me during the day. I have not developed the exercise extensively, but as a small approximation to the stated objective. Continue reading “Captions and Titles”

Looking at Adverts

Insider (and II)

Last 3th of February I made a first attempt to become an insider of one of the most traditional festive celebrations in my city, and which I had never attended. I tried to put myself in the position of an insider, but I clearly did not get it and all I did was keep out of the events, limiting myself to photographing what caught my attention. What did not work correctly? Continue reading “Insider (and II)”

Insider (I)

Photography as a predatory act. This is an extended practice among all the photographers, to which, at a certain extent, all of us have succumbed at any time or at least felt the temptation to do so. I myself once witnessed a scene in which a “street photographer” was trying to photograph a beggar, indifferent to the energetic protests of the poor man. Continue reading “Insider (I)”
