Part four: Image and text

Jim Goldberg (notes)

American photographer recognized for his books and long-term photographic projects, where he uses different types of formats: photo-collage, written texts, video, audio, and above all the active participation of the subjects to mean the photos in which they participate. He has been a Magnum photographer since 2002. Continue reading “Jim Goldberg (notes)”

Kaylynn Deveney (notes)

Based on the storyboard of Doña Josefa that I drew a few weeks ago, I conceived the idea of a photographic project that takes as starting point this story and builds a set of images that more or less literally fits the story. Continue reading “Kaylynn Deveney (notes)”

Exercise 4.4

I have been collecting photographs from several online magazines during these last two weeks, looking for controversial issues, mostly concerning the Syrian War, the Venezuelan uprising, French elections, North Korean-USA confrontation and Spanish political corruption. David Favroad (notes)

Japanese photographer (Kobe, 1982) who currently lives and works in Switzerland and Spain. He has been the winner of the 2013 LensCulture Exposure Awards in Portfolio modality with his Hiraki series. Continue reading “David Favroad (notes)”

Based on a short story by Mónica Muñoz, I drew a storyboard which tries to illustrate it. Continue reading “Storyboard”

I have not developed the exercise extensively, but as a small approximation to the stated objective. Continue reading “Captions and Titles”

Looking at Adverts

Of all the Dawn Wooley articles on the interpretation of adverts that I have read, the only one that specifically explores the relationship between text and image is one that advertises a butter called “Lurpak” (Looking at adverts: 3). Continue reading “Looking at Adverts”
