Reflections

Research Point 2

For some time now, I have been nurturing the idea that “aging” will be the theme of my last assignment. It seems as though I feel the urge to make a deep reflection about how my life is facing a new station, time to reflect about existence and expectations. A kind of vital testament, as Beethoven did in Heiligenstadt. Continue reading “Research Point 2”

Alberte A.Pereira: Fragmentos

A couple of weeks ago I attended to Alberte A.Pereira’s exhibition “Fragmentos” held by DinamoCoworking, where I came across with this Spanish street photographer, who skilfully manages the concept of presence/ausence on his body of work. Continue reading “Alberte A.Pereira: Fragmentos”

Jim Goldberg (notes)

American photographer recognized for his books and long-term photographic projects, where he uses different types of formats: photo-collage, written texts, video, audio, and above all the active participation of the subjects to mean the photos in which they participate. He has been a Magnum photographer since 2002. Continue reading “Jim Goldberg (notes)”

Kaylynn Deveney (notes)

Based on the storyboard of Doña Josefa that I drew a few weeks ago, I conceived the idea of a photographic project that takes as starting point this story and builds a set of images that more or less literally fits the story. Continue reading “Kaylynn Deveney (notes)”

Lensculture Review

This week I’ve received the Lensculture review for the series of pictures that I sent for the Portrait Awards 2017. The mood of the feedback is positive although it insists on the two or three weakness of the series, which it’s great to help me to know how a trained viewer perceive my work. Continue reading “Lensculture Review”

Sharon Boothroyd (notes)

Regarding her series “If you get married again, will you still love me?” she resorts to fabricated images, using actors who perform their role in public spaces; The use of a public spaces to show a scene of a familiar conflict increases the intensity of the feelings, strengthening the tension between the personages. For example, we could appreciate this on the scene where a father and his daughter are in a restaurant waiting for the order, exposing publicly the distance between them. Continue reading “Sharon Boothroyd (notes)”

David Favroad (notes)

Japanese photographer (Kobe, 1982) who currently lives and works in Switzerland and Spain. He has been the winner of the 2013 LensCulture Exposure Awards in Portfolio modality with his Hiraki series. Continue reading “David Favroad (notes)”

Research Point: Elina Brotherus

My first approach to the work of Elina Brotherus was last year while I was doing Context and Narrative course, and more specifically to her series “Annonciation” and I  immediately felt fascinated by those open scenes, that in certain way resemble a scene of a classic painting: the sensation of space, the proportion of the human figure, the tonal balance of the composition,..
