Alberte A.Pereira: Fragmentos

A couple of weeks ago I attended to Alberte A.Pereira’s exhibition “Fragmentos” held by DinamoCoworking, where I came across with this Spanish street photographer, who skilfully manages the concept of presence/ausence on his body of work. Continue reading “Alberte A.Pereira: Fragmentos”

Jim Goldberg (notes)

American photographer recognized for his books and long-term photographic projects, where he uses different types of formats: photo-collage, written texts, video, audio, and above all the active participation of the subjects to mean the photos in which they participate. Kaylynn Deveney (notes)

Based on the storyboard of Doña Josefa that I drew a few weeks ago, I conceived the idea of a photographic project that takes as starting point this story and builds a set of images that more or less literally fits the story. Continue reading “Kaylynn Deveney (notes)”

Sharon Boothroyd (notes)

Regarding her series “If you get married again, will you still love me?” she resorts to fabricated images, using actors who perform their role in public spaces; The use of a public spaces to show a scene of a familiar conflict increases the intensity of the feelings, strengthening the tension between the personages. For example, we could appreciate this on the scene where a father and his daughter are in a restaurant waiting for the order, exposing publicly the distance between them. Continue reading “Sharon Boothroyd (notes)”

Irving Penn

When I first heard about this photographer and his connection to the world of fashion, I certainly did not show much interest, since my tastes at that time were very distant of what is usually known as fashion photography. However, today I have discovered an author who has transcended the field of fashion photography with an artistic proposal that I would dare to classify as revolutionary. Continue reading “Irving Penn”

Daniel Meadows

Daniel Meadows declares himself as a documentarist, and his works developed in the 70s and 80s are a good prove of it. Experiences such as the Graeme Street photo shop mark the beginning of a path in which the artist seeks to integrate himself in the subject’s environment and from there to photograph the subjects. Continue reading “Daniel Meadows”

Julien Germain

In more than two years that I have been studying photography in the OCA I found some really fascinating photographers, some of them have surprised me because of the use of a new and strong visual language, some others for the simplicity of their proposasl, and others precisely for the opposite, to exhibit in their pictures a infinity of details and creating exuberant compositions in content and meanings. Continue reading “Julien Germain”
