Photography has been part of my life since I bought my first camera at the age of ten, and that was more than forty years ago. It was a simple one. It was one of those plastic cameras which children can afford to buy with all his savings. With such a camera I captured the first photographic memories of my family in the early 70’s.

I’ve been doing photography all these years with more enthusiasm than technique, more intuition than knowledge, and more mistakes than success…. Photography is not all about technique; it also involves a mental process, analysis and composition that you have to master in order to get a great picture.

Photography is an art: the art of painting with light, combining colors in harmony or confronting black and white in a sort of fight between one and another. And photography is also about narrative: the art of telling a story, capturing a whole story in a single shot. Like other languages, photography has its own syntax and I’d like to learn in an appropriate way the very first rules of photography, acquire the means which allow me to development my own voice and tell my personal story.

My name is Blas and I live in Vigo (Spain). I’ve been working as a computer programmer for more than 30 years. I’m interested in Fine Art Photography, but I also like portraiture, photojournalism and all kind of photographic expression that looks inside the person and explores its relation with the environment and other people. This is my third year as OCA Student, on my way to the Undergraduate Degree in Photography…
